Frankie Moorhead Obituary

Tolleson, Arizona - Frankie Moorhead, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Tolleson, Arizona, surrounded by the love of his family.

A proud second-generation Arizonan, Frankie spent nearly his entire life in the Tolleson community he loved. The farm, the animals, the open land, and the people who called the West Valley home were woven into the fabric of who he was. He shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lavoy, building a life together centered on family.

Frankie worked as a welder for the Arizona Department of Transportation for many years. As a teenager, he dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. While life led him down a different path, he never lost his love for animals and became the trusted "doctor" for the livestock on his family farm. Following in his father's footsteps, he was involved in thoroughbred horse racing for many years, a passion that brought him great enjoyment and lifelong friendships.

He was happiest working on the farm, caring for his animals, and spending time with friends and neighbors, sharing stories and shooting the breeze. Frankie never met a stranger for long. His easygoing nature, practical wisdom, and willingness to lend a hand made him a trusted friend and a steady presence in the lives of many.

Above all else, Frankie was a devoted family man. To his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, he was a source of unconditional love, strength, guidance, and support. Known affectionately as "Pumpa", he was the heart of a large and loving family and took immense pride in watching it grow through the generations. Nothing brought him greater happiness than gathering with family, sharing stories, and creating memories with those he loved most.

Frankie is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Lavoy Moorhead; his children, Deena (Jim) and Jeff (Michelle); six grandchildren, Norman (Anita), Nathan (Krystal), Nick (Denise), Desiree (Justin), Cole, and Matthew (Kendall); ten great-grandchildren, Victoria, Daniel (Kaitlyn), Levi, Tucker (Trinity), Riley, Mark, Silas, Cadence, Kayla, and Nick II; and five great-great-grandchildren, Jake, Lane, Jax, Beau, and Parker.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford and James; his sister, Alta; his son, Denny; and his great-grandson, Casey.

Frankie's legacy lives on in the generations of family who knew and loved him. Whether they called him Frankie, Dad, or Pumpa, they will remember his strong hands, generous heart, quiet wisdom, and steadfast love. He leaves behind not only a large family, but a family made stronger by his example. Though he will be deeply missed, his stories, values, and spirit will remain a cherished part of their lives forever.
